The Vikings¹

With over 700 members throughout Britain, and others in Europe and North America, The Vikings is the premier society presenting re-enactments of the Viking Age. Founded in 1971, The Vikings is the oldest and largest Dark Age re-enactment society in the UK, and probably the world.

Our aim is to provide an accurate and educational portrayal of the Viking period, emphasising both daily life and the more warlike aspects of what was a formative period in European history. We cover Celtic, Norman, Anglo-Saxon and Viking re-enactment, and focus on the 10th Century, but some events are set in the wider period from 700 to 1100, with appropriate modifications to the dress and equipment used.

The Temesvikings

The Temesvikings is a local group within The Vikings mainly covering the London area (Temes being an old spelling of Thames). We re-enact military and domestic life of the 10th and early 11th centuries.

Our members represent some of the Anglo-Danish and Anglo-Saxon natives and settlers who might have been found in the London area some 1000 years ago. We can be booked (subject to availability) for shows, fairs and fetes, etc.
